For the past year, Utah has been registering death certificates electronically, over the internet. This process has the potential for streamlining the method of obtaining vital records and will, as it becomes more widely used, reduce the waiting time for obtaining death certiciates from local health departments. All of the funeral homes in Utah are currently submitting vital statistics through their computers. When the doctors who are signed up with EDEN enter their data and sign with their pin signatures, the records can then be certified and copied for official use.

Not all physicians are currently enrolled however, and we encourage families waiting for vital records to suggest to their physicians to enroll with EDEN and become proficient in completing their obligation for these records. It will, in the long run, be less time consuming for them and much more efficient for all parties involved in this registration effort.
